birth of christ

I am working on a piece that would essentially be a depiction of the birth of Christ. It will actually comprise of several panels mounted within a frame. I am going to have some lighting elements, so I am going to have to ask for some help from some friends more informed about that kind of thing.

a partial coloring

Been working on the digital painting. It's real easy for me to sit down and work for a good chunk of time on the computer. The time go by quite quickly, which is good, because I have trouble getting down to work.

A quick self-portrait. :)

Painting Class-self portrait

This is some work I have from the Illustration elective, 'Painting for Illustrators' taught by Paul Olson. This is a great class. We don't learn enough formal technique in the required classes, and this class is supplementing that quite nicely. Even through just the mandate to paint I've learned more, but Paul knows what he's talking about and I've gotten much out of taking the class so far.

This is a self portrait from observation. The lighting is a bit queer because I painted under two different lighting situations, so alot of it is fudged. I think I will develop a background and do something with the clothing and make it a sort of a genre painting for reviews.
